Hey there, besties!
Ever felt like you’ve lost touch with your creative side? Trust me, I’ve been there. (I’m currently there.) Life gets busy, distractions pile up, and before you know it, that once vibrant passion for your art dims into a distant memory. But fear not! After a prolonged hiatus, I’m here to share my journey of rediscovering my artistic mojo.
It all starts with a nagging feeling deep inside, a whisper of longing to pick up that paintbrush, dust off the sketchpad, pick up the pen, or open a clean new page to start a new story. I can’t ignore it any longer. So, armed with determination and a sprinkle of self-compassion, I embark on my quest to reignite my creativity.
The first step? Letting go of perfectionism. I like to remind myself that it’s okay to start small, to create without the pressure of producing a masterpiece. I doodle, experiment, and allow myself to make mistakes, embracing them as part of the process. When it comes to art, anything that gets your creativity moving counts. If I’m working on my writing, I love free writing and short writing exercises.
Next, I look for inspiration everywhere I go. From the vibrant hues of a sunset to the intricate patterns in everyday objects, I have trained my eyes to see the beauty in the mundane. And oh, the joy of discovering new artists and art forms! Their work can spark a fire within me, motivating me to explore different techniques and styles.
But perhaps the most crucial part of this journey is carving out dedicated time for my art. Amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life, I set aside moments solely for creative expression. Whether it’s early mornings with a cup of coffee or late nights illuminated by the glow of the desk lamp, those stolen hours become sacred. One year I got into the habit of getting up at 3am to start working on different projects. Watching the night transform into morning felt like magic to me and got the creativity flowing and slowly but surely, my passion for art reignited.
With each stroke of the brush, every sketch, and every word written, I feel more alive than ever before. Art is my sanctuary, it’s a place where I can lose myself and find myself all at once.
So, if you’re struggling to reconnect with your creativity, know that you’re not alone. Take it one brushstroke at a time, be gentle with yourself, and above all, never underestimate the power of simply starting. Who knows? Your next masterpiece might be just around the corner.
Here’s to embracing the journey and letting our creativity soar!
