I can’t seem to get enough of my pinks and purples lately. So I looked into it. I have always heard how the color purple relates to the imagination and spirituality. It stimulates the imagination and inspires high ideals. It is an introspective color, allowing us to get in touch with our deeper thoughts. ItContinue reading “Pink and Purple”

How To Clean Your Brushes
I am very guilty of not taking good care of my brushes. They dry and fall apart. Oops, my bad. So I thought I would write this post not only for my lovely readers but for myself too! Perhaps if I write it all out, then I’ll do it for my poor sad brushes. SoContinue reading “How To Clean Your Brushes”
Do You See Abstract?
I don’t know about you guys but sometimes when I’m really in the art zone, everywhere I look I can see something abstract or something that will inspire me to paint something abstract. It might be shapes, colours or people. It is usually nature, the shape of a leaf or the movement of a cloud.Continue reading “Do You See Abstract?”
Working too hard
When do you draw the line? How do you know when to be strict with yourself? I have been working pretty damn hard lately and I’m feeling it but when I get into the zone I just can’t stop, so I will keep going for hours and hours in front of the computer. Never leavingContinue reading “Working too hard”
When Inspiration Runs Out.
What to do when the inspiration stops coming, the flow becomes less flowy? If I am feeling particularly stuck I turn to music. I close my eyes and imagine a story to go with the music. I see the scene playing out, I give the characters names and lives. Sometimes I star in the scene.Continue reading “When Inspiration Runs Out.”
So many emotions!
Today I have been emotional, and I have been pondering those emotions. I decided to draw them, just doodling in my sketchbook. I found that the predominant emotions sticking out were guilt, sadness and strangely enough, happiness. The emotions are pretty conflicting. So, I drew them, I added different colours… I gave the emotions facesContinue reading “So many emotions!”
Colours
I find it amazing how colours come to me during my practice. I move into child’s pose and all I see is blue. When relaxing into saddle I see yellows. Or settling into warrior, I see orange. The colours just come and settle over me. Then after my practice I go and get my canvas.Continue reading “Colours”
When your inspiration takes a turn!
Another day has gone by and I didn’t do any abstract work today! I sat and did two paintings as per usual, but they turned out to be cute little chibi style characters. I will post those soon. I think they’re cute. I just go with the flow with my art. I have been inContinue reading “When your inspiration takes a turn!”
When The Day Slips Away.
You know that feeling when you get up all energised and ready to work? You open your eyes and you are determined and then one small thing happens and you allow negativity to dictate how the rest of your day will go. Then you get the days when you wake up feeling pretty normal, notContinue reading “When The Day Slips Away.”
Today’s Practice
Today in class we focused on grounding. It is late summer here, so grounding is key. During meditation, nature featured heavily and I felt full of joy. I mainly practice Yin Yoga and Hatha Yoga. I go to class for Yin, I just love the energy and the flow of a Yin class. I alsoContinue reading “Today’s Practice”
